FRAGRANCE REDUCTION IN OUR CHURCHES

I'm Aileen Aidnik, RN, deacon, and assistant director of St. Francis Pet Education, Training and Service Dog School at St. Francis church in Fair Oaks CA.  I just found your link and wanted to let you know about our program.  We train service dogs and place them free of charge with injured veterans.  In addition, we offer classes for people with a disability where they can train a dog for their particular needs--be it seizure or low blood sugar alerts, ability assistance etc.--and certify them for public access.  Our 4 Paws for Vets component offers veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder the opportunity to train dogs rescued from local area shelters (with whom we have a working relationship) over a 6 month period and when the dogs are ready for placement a 4 Paws vet  can be matched with a dog, or the dogs are placed with another veteran needing assistance.  Dogs who are not suitable for service work are placed for adoption after having been resocialized and trained in basic obedience  We are also working with the local prison to begin a PupsInPrison program in the near future. These healing programs are a win-win for all involved, and we have seen tremendous strides in short periods of time.

Our program is certified by the Veterans Administration as the west coast center for service dogs.

Please check out our web site at stfrancispet.googlepages.com .  You will find a walth of information there. My hope is that we can network so that resources such as ours can be included in the church's national information banks.  Any help or suggestions you can give us would be greatly appreciated.  You can contact me at deaconaileen@directv.net or by phone at 530-409-9126.  I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
